Bikaner is a 500-year old town Fort City of Rajasthan. It is located in the north of Rajasthan and is a desert city in the true sense of the word. It is a beautiful place to observe the camels and fortresses. The treasures of Bikaner are its beautiful forts, palaces and temples.
Junagarh Fort, built by a Mughal army General, Raja Raj Singh, in 1593, is a place worth visiting while in Bikaner. The Dewan-i-khas, the Phool Mahal, Hawa Mahal, Badal Mahal and Anup Mahal are a mirror of the Muslim architecture. Lallgarh Palace is another tourist destination just 3kms away from Bikaner and some parts of it have been converted into a hotel and some of the parts into a museum.
Other than the forts and palaces, there is a temple called the Karni Mata where rats are worshipped, the Ganga Golden Jubilee Museum, the Bhandasar Jain temple, the Gajner Wild Life Sanctuary and the Camel Research Farm which are worth seeing. Food, wool and camel breeding are some of the industries which are emerging here.
