Pushkar is located just 14 km away from Ajmer. Pushkar is bound by hills on three sides and sand dunes on the other sides. The famous Pushkar Lake has been a center of piligrimage since many years. There are 52 bathing ghats built around it. The water around each ghat is believed to possess magical powers.
It is also known as the land of festivals and fairs. Pushkar fair is one of the most popular fairs held on the 11th day of the bright half of the moon in the month of October or November. Devotees from all over the world throng the place to take a holy dip in the lake water.
The most renowned temple in Pushkar is the Brahma Temple which is the one and only temple dedicated to Brahma in India. Pushkar is also famous for its camel fair which is held every year in the month of November.
